As the Sisters of the Holy Union of the Sacred Hearts in Cameroon prepare for the grand celebration of the Congregation's Bicentenary Jubilee (1826–2026) on 6 August 2026, several significant activities have taken place to ensure a meaningful and memorable celebration.
This year's event is particularly special as it marks a triple celebration: The 200th anniversary of the Congregation, the Perpetual (Final) Profession of Sister Cecilia Fukah and Sister Gildas Dingha, and the Silver Jubilee (25 years of Religious Profession) of Sister Elizabeth Ngwe and Sister Pascaline Fon.
A major highlight of the preparations has been the formation of the two Sisters preparing for their Final Commitment. From July 5–21, 2026, Sister Cecilia Fukah and Sister Gildas Dingha participated in an intensive period of spiritual and human preparation at the Carmelite Scholasticate, Nkolbisson, where they benefited from enriching presentations and reflections facilitated by sisters from across the Congregation. The two Sisters Cecilia Fukah and Gildas Dingha are currently on retreat at the Jesuit Novitiate, Bafoussam in the West region of Cameroon, prayerfully preparing for their lifelong commitment.
Meanwhile, preparations for the Jubilee celebration are progressing steadily. The organizing committees, choir, liturgy team, and other stakeholders continue to work tirelessly to ensure a prayerful and well-coordinated celebration. To make the Bicentenary memorable and widely known, different communities organized pilgrimages to visit sites connected to our history in Cameroon. This initiative serves as a meaningful reminder of where we come from. Sr Caroline Njah and Sr Yvette Sam, both originally from Cameroon, will join the celebration representing the General Council.
As Africans, our roots remain a vital reference point, continually grounding us in our identity. These visits included the grave of Sister Juliette, who was buried in Njombe and the grave of Sister Alfred Therese in Dschang. Also various media houses have been engaged to cover the event, and interviews have been scheduled with CRTV to highlight the history, mission, and contributions of the Sisters of the Holy Union of the Sacred Hearts in Cameroon while inviting the public to participate.
With gratitude for God's faithfulness over the past two centuries and confidence in His continued guidance, the Sisters of the Holy Union in Cameroon look forward to the celebration on August 6th 2026 as a moment of thanksgiving, renewed commitment, and joyful witness to the Gospel.
