Sister Cecilia Egho Fukah, the new Holy Union representative on the UNANIMA International Board, recently attended her first meeting. Sister Cecilia, from Cameroon, is pursuing a theology degree at the Divine Word College in Iowa. She joined Sister Eileen Davey from the United States who has previously served as the Holy Union Sisters Board Member. The meeting took place at Thomas Berry Place in New York City. Sister Cecilia shared about the present reality in her native Cameroon, which has been experiencing violence in the Anglophone section of the country for several years. Sister Jean Quinn, D.W. Executive Director of UNANIMA International expressed the gratitude of the Board for Sister Eileen’s years of service.
UNANIMA International (UI) is a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Founded in 2002, it now represents 25 Congregations of Women Religious, comprising over 25,000 people in 100 countries. The Holy Union international congregation was one of the earliest members of the Board. UI has a bi-monthly newsletter with information about activities at the United Nations as well as the work of member congregations.
