The Sisters of the Holy Union of the Sacred Hearts in Cameroon join in celebrating the Season of Creation, from 1 September to 4 October 2026, under the theme “Living Water Calls Us to Hope and Ecological Healing.”
This season invites us to recognize creation as God’s precious gift and to renew our responsibility towards our common home. It calls for an ecological conversion expressed not only in prayer and reflection, but also through simple, concrete actions in our daily lives.
Under the coordination of Sr. Joan Mary Tehtinla, JPIC Coordinator for Cameroon, environmental activities have been carried out in several Holy Union communities and ministries.
These include:
- Cleaning and waste collection at SMCCHS Ndop;
- Cleaning at the Ndop Health Centre;
- Clearing drainage channels in Baba 1, cleaning activities in Massea, and other local initiatives.
Though modest, these actions are meaningful expressions of care for creation. They also provide opportunities to educate and inspire students, young people, and local communities to become responsible stewards of the environment.
The celebration reminds us that caring for creation begins with each person and with the choices we make every day. Through gratitude, simplicity, responsibility, and hope, we can contribute to the healing of our common home.
