A Light of Hope in the Fight against Human Trafficking: My Journey in Thailand
Some journeys change your perspective on life forever. For me, six months of intensive online learning started in January 2026, were only the beginning of something much greater a life-changing experience that reached its peak in Bangkok, Thailand, from the 23rd to the 30th of June, where hope, courage, and collective determination came together in the fight against human trafficking.
I was deeply honored to receive a scholarship to participate in the in-person phase of the 6th Talitha Kum Leadership Course. Together with 28 Religious Sisters and Youth Ambassadors from different parts of the world, we represented diverse cultures and languages, yet we spoke one common language the language of defending human dignity.
Five Days That Transformed My Perspective
Our five days together were filled with meaningful learning and practical capacity-building. We strengthened our leadership skills, enhanced our public speaking abilities, and explored strategies for promoting systemic change that addresses the root causes of human trafficking.
Listening to survivors' stories, witnessing their resilience, and seeing the compassionate efforts made to restore their lives reminded me that this mission is far more than a professional responsibility it is a sacred calling.
Returning Home with Actionable Plans
As I return home, I am committed to educating vulnerable children, especially pupils at St. Theresa Primary School in Namanga, Arusha Region, and strengthening collaboration with local leaders, civil society, and government institutions to support survivors.
A Heartfelt Thank You
I sincerely thank Talitha Kum for this scholarship and transformative opportunity. The knowledge and friendships I gained reaffirmed that none of us is alone in this mission. The real work begins now at the grassroots, where the voices of the most vulnerable need our unwavering commitment.
