In an atmosphere of deep fraternity and discernment, the sisters of the Holy Union celebrated their Annual Area Assembly (April 17–19, 2026). Facilitated by Sr. Noemí Zambrana, the meeting was not only a space for prayer but also the cornerstone for designing the 2026–2027 Project—an ambitious plan that seeks to respond to current challenges regarding interculturality, vocations, and formation.
New Structures and Protection - One of the central milestones of the assembly was the approval of the Care and Protection Protocol (Safeguarding). Aurelia Oppezzi was appointed as the congregational delegate.
Heading Towards 200 Years - All eyes are set on September 26, 2026, the date marking the closing celebration of the Holy Union's Bicentennial. Under the motto "Grateful memory on the path of The Holy Union," a massive event is being prepared to bring together alumni, families, and other congregations in an act of historic communion.
Intergenerational Bridges - The freshness of the encounter came from the young people of the J.A.C. project. This exchange allowed the sisters to hear firsthand the concerns of today's youth, bringing a fresh perspective to vocational accompaniment and the reality of the Church today. This dialogue beautifully complemented the moving celebration of Elvira María’s 92nd birthday—a living testimony of service that kicked off the three-day event.
Shared Mission: The Symbol of the Patchwork - As a symbolic gesture of the assembly, the participants created a collective artwork on fabric. Each sister started a stroke that was then continued by another, resulting in a community patchwork. This piece represents the very essence of the Holy Union: a mission that is not individual, but a collective work built with patience, trust in one another, and loving communication.
The assembly concluded with a positive evaluation, highlighting the value of silence, active listening, and, above all, the joy of continuing to leave a meaningful mark through simplicity and fidelity to their foundational charism.
